Bumblebees

We are now at the time of year where we get calls about controlling bees and wasps.

Vermtek has a strict non-destruction policy for all Bee species. The video below is a small bumblebee nest in a clients wall. These nests wont grow in excess of 200 and the chances of being stung by one is remote. To put it into context, we handle these bees every spring and in over 10 years, none of us have ever been stung!

Wasps are a different story, we will control and remove wasps. However the nests at this time of year are small (around the size of a golf ball) as the queen forages on insects to feed the larvae. They will become a problem later in the year and we will be removing wasps across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.

Our office is between Swindon and Oxford, we have built a Bee garden along one wall and are currently rehoming bumblebees into old birdboxes to feeds on the wild flowers we planted last year. If you have space for a little team of Bumblebees, get in touch and we will rehome some to you!

You can see how calm they are, we are filming inches from their nest and they aren’t even concerned.
