Have you noticed large numbers of flies suddenly appear, seemingly out of nowhere, during autumn and spring? Are you totally baffled as to where they have come from or why they are there? Are the quieter rooms and windowsills in your house littered with dead flies? If yes, they are probably cluster flies!

Cluster flies are about 7mm long, striped and are usually quite slow moving. They are parasitic, laying their eggs in earthworms, and because of this, the usual Vermtek approach to removing pests at source isn’t possible. Unusually, cluster flies hibernate through the winter. This is why they become visible in autumn, when they enter our houses seeking refuge from the cold, and again in spring when they emerge.

Favouring inaccessible places such as lofts, wall cavities, nooks, crannies and even chimneys, they can be difficult to get rid of. Wherever they are hiding, we will find them! We can put together a detailed ongoing management strategy with you – call or email us for more information today.
